Archaeologists on wildland fires serve as Resource Advisors (READs) or specialists to identify and protect cultural/tribal resources, such as artifacts, structures, and rock art, from fire damage and suppression activities (e.g., dozer lines). They are often Red Card certified to work directly on fire lines, conducting surveys, documenting damage, and aiding in rehabilitation efforts.
