The Natural and Cultural Resources Recovery Support Function (NCR RSF), led by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) (or similar state/local entities, depending on the jurisdiction), facilitates federal technical and financial assistance to help communities, states, and tribes rebuild and restore natural, cultural, and historic resources after disasters. It integrates expertise to assess damage, comply with environmental laws, and promote long-term sustainability.
The NCR RSF supports local recovery through 1) the management and protection of natural and cultural resources, 2) building community and ecosystem sustainability, 3) improving long-term natural and cultural resource recovery/resiliency, and 4) supporting State, tribal, regional, and local programs. Examples of activities the NCR RSF can support during a community’s long-term recovery efforts include the following:
Work with communities to identify natural and cultural resources that have been impacted and/or those that are the most in need of recovery support.
Support engagement with tribal jurisdictions to support recovery for tribal cultural resources.
Identify potential funding available for natural and cultural resource recovery and restoration.
