As a local jurisdiction first responder or emergency manager, it has been said that statistically (unless you live in FEMA's Central City), that your first "big" disaster will be your first, worst and last of your career.  This makes sense as if you were getting hit constantly, you'd probably move.  That said, this site, our content and our training/exercises help you get ready  and build capacity for the "bad day."  

You can also gain fantastic experience and a lot of capability by doing the "away game" deployments in our profession.  As you work toward your certifications and potentially joining an IMT yourself, this site can be a one-stop shop for tools, tips and tricks.  Please send us your "stuff" and we'll get it posted to our library.  Thanks for all you do and be safe.
